Combine a milestone birthday, wedding party or landmark event with the solstice and celebrate on a date that’s held major significance for thousands of years.
On the night of the last winter solstice, we planned a party for a client’s 21st birthday. The shortest day of the year gave them the longest night to party. Two solstices occur annually, on about 21 June and 21 December. Both the winter and summer solstices are popular dates for hosting a party.

We designed a temporary event structure in the grounds of our client’s home for the solstice party and we styled the interior with luxurious draping, lights and vintage style furniture for a sit-down meal followed by dancing to a world-class DJ.
The temporary structures we design are not your average marquee in a garden. The well-constructed spaces have an extended height and impressive elegance. These ‘pop-up’ venues are beautiful, warm and inviting on the cold solstice night.
The 12 by 24 metre framed structure sat on three metre legs with carpet over a hardwood floor. From a pagoda entrance, double glass doors opened onto a covered walkway. A partitioned wall hid a cloak room. Guests them emerged into the main space which held the dinning tables, bar and dance floor. The scale of the structure was impressive and surpassed our client’s expectations.
The venue interior design encompassed vintage style trestle tables and chairs, draped walls, star cloth ceiling, dance floor, DJ booth, sofas, cube seating, birch trees and a behind the scenes catering area. Professional cocktail bar tenders showed their flair and showmanship behind a three metre LED backlit fully equipped horseshoe shaped bar.
With a nod to nature and the original winter solstice evergreens, the event structure was designed around a tree in the centre of our client’s garden. Decorated with fairy lights the tree featured as a backdrop behind the DJ booth.
Designed with dramatic opulence the interior styling delivered a real sense of excitement and glamour. Coupled with the best professional sound and lighting the feel was more London private members club than garden marquee.

To begin, consider acoustic sets, meet and greet acts, and creative performers who’ll help break down any social barriers. Post dinner, turn the energy right up with high profile party bands and DJ sets alongside roaming percussionists.
