We knew from the start this joint 40th was going to be a fun one. These clients already had a fantastic rota of entertainment booked when they came to us, needing a professional to deal with all the rest. We knew we wouldn’t have a problem with putting a marquee on their land, so with very few limitations we were able to let our creativity run loose with the styling and design.
The Styling
With these party loving clients we wanted to create an uber cool party space slightly inspired by their years clubbing in the 00s. The marquee structure of this cool club 50th really caught the clients eye, and provided a jumping off point for the design. We wanted to stage area to really wow guests, with a silver draped fan out across the back wall catching the eye, we knew that their acts would have a great space to perform in!
The dance floor was flanked by giant wiggly teal sofas, providing a spot to perch during the evening, and take in what was going on. The central mirrored silver had a sparkly crystal chandelier suspended above it, and funky teal sofas in the corners of the bar area softened the feel of the tent. The whole feel was classy and clubby, decked in silvers, teals and black. The perfect environment to celebrate a 40th surrounded by family and friends.
The Experience
A winding path bought guests through a beautiful mature woodland area, with uplighters lighting the trees in hues of blue and purple, whilst fairy lights and lanterns marked the edges of the path. The stunning, half clear roofed marquee appeared like a mirage at the end of the path, lit inside by the setting sun, coming low through the chandelier and sending beams of light shooting around the space. The beautiful weather meant the champagne reception mostly took place outside the front of the tent, with delicious canapes circulating.
The party started turning up a few notches when the saxophone came out to accompany the DJ, creating a really chilled Ibiza feel. Cocktails were being shaken and bottles, thrown in the air by our talented flairing bar tenders, caught the sun in their flight. Next on the agenda was a singer/MC who started to really pull guests into the main club space. This timed well with circulating bowl foods, guests really starting to get ready for the full on party to come. As the sun set our lighting technician was there to change the vibe of the room, really making the lighting part of the show, accentuating bass drops and creating the perfect party atmosphere. We even had a haze machine, and an aroma machine that gave the whole tent a welcoming scent!
We’d had to have a bit of a shift around of the schedule last minute to accommodate everyone’s desire to watch England play Norway in the World cup Quarter finals. We’d positioned the main act of the night – The Artful Dodger – during half time of the game to act as a half time show and put a big screen in the bar so everyone could watch the game together, rather than be glued to their phones. With this in place, and thanks to England’s win, it turned what could’ve been a party ending sports game, into an unforgettable 40th birthday party!
