This family asked us to plan their daughter’s wedding having experienced our creative technical planning skills a few years prior at a favourite uncle’s 50th. The brief was to create a seamless garden wedding using traditional style rope and post marquees, in the back garden of the client’s stunning Sussex home. A full day of entertainment, good food and drink, and joy.
The Styling
This family home, nestled at the base of the South Downs in Sussex, was the gorgeous backdrop for this countryside celebration. Surrounded by sprawling vineyards and stunning hills, the house’s gardens had been beautifully landscaped and provided the perfect spot for our two classic rope and post tents. This garden wedding atmosphere was continued into the tent with real silver birches and hanging floristry providing moments of nature in these otherwise clean white spaces.
While the bride had a clear vision for the dining tent – gold chivari chairs, crisp white table linen and gold table accessories – the dance tent gave us a little more creative license. Elegant lounge sofas in natural taupe tones, with wooden features to complement the garden surroundings, created a tranquil yet party-ready space for celebrations to continue into the night. As the bride’s colour scheme featured white and gold heavily, we knew the bar simply had to be a big gold feature piece.
The Experience
The main bridal party of 20 started the day with the official ceremony at the gorgeous Lewes registry offices, before arriving back for canapés and fizz at noon. The fizz, provided by their very own family vineyard just a stone’s throw from the house, came in specially labelled bottles! The day was one of the hottest of summer 2025, and the relaxed timings allowed guests to soak in the stunning surroundings and start the happy celebrations.
At 2pm a further 100 guests arrived for more fizz, canapés and formal photographs before settling down to a delicious wedding breakfast. The formal dining setting was balanced with the informal approach of sharing platters. Our chefs provided a plentiful feast with a unique menu. Sharing starters of tacos were a hit, and the slow-cooked Moroccan lamb and teriyaki glazed salmon were perfect mains. Accompanied by sharing sides, salads, roasted veg and even patatas bravas, the meal concluded with shared desserts.
After dinner, guests moved through to the party marquee – where we got the evening started with a further 25 guests joining! A central cocktail bar featuring everything from Mojitos to the client’s own fizz set the stage for the party band and our superstar DJ, who kept the dance floor full into the small hours. Fun extras like a campervan photobooth and ice cream tricycle added joy to this unforgettable garden wedding, while late-night favourites such as burgers, pork belly wraps and lamb koftas ensured everyone stayed fuelled for the celebrations.
Challenges
The weather… after years of planning and producing incredible events, this one truly tested us. The heat was intense, even keeping the water jugs filled for guests on tables became a mission! Moments like these remind us that our greatest strength lies in our incredible staff, who went above and beyond to deliver the perfect garden wedding experience.
The heat even affected our lighting and sound systems; keeping all electrical systems shaded and cool was a challenge. Thankfully, our technical experts handled power fluctuations seamlessly, all without the client ever knowing.
The client’s garden also brought challenges: a heavily sloping lawn required us to build a bespoke wooden floor for the marquee. There was also a historic stone archway across the driveway, a great photo spot but an access issue for deliveries. With detailed pre-production planning, understanding drivers, and even deflating tyres to fit under the arch, we ensured every element, including the loo trailer, was perfectly in place.
