After a memorable experience with us for their daughter’s 18th birthday, our clients came back to Mirage for our expert wedding planning that redefined traditional celebrations to create a stunning, unique wedding celebration in their beautiful Surrey hills home.
The Brief
To create a relaxed and unique wedding that celebrated their love among family and friends. Wanting an event free from stiff formalities, focusing instead on a seamless flow throughout the day surprising guests but never leaving them wondering what was next. Music was to have a central role in the proceedings with a hint of a festival vibe to the décor.
The Setting
Nestled in the picturesque Surrey Hills, the couple’s dream wedding came to life across three beautifully designed spaces, showcasing our expertise as event planners and designers. The ceremony took place in a stetch tent nestled in a vibrant wild flower meadow. Reception drinks then took place around the pool before the guests were taken up to the wedding breakfast and later the nightclub.
The Experience
Guests were greeted on arrival with parking attendants and security ensuring this was a smooth process. They then wound their way through a stunning wild flower meadow to the ceremony tent. The bride arrived down an avenue of installed beach trees to an intimate ceremony with family and friends. A String trio provided background music at the relevant points.
This wonderful ceremony was followed by reception drinks around the client’s pool allowing guests to mingle and photos to be taken.
To the guests surprise and delight tractors and trailers appeared on the drive to escort them to the top of the estate for the next stage of the wedding. This was via an avenue of festival-style flags and lanterns culminating in a beautifully dressed stretch tent nestled in the edge of a woodland. With an Irish folk band providing musical accompaniment to the wedding breakfast that was set on long tables adorned with a bounty of sharing platters. The guests enjoyed a relaxed and sumptuous meal and speeches as the sun set on this glorious summer’s day.
After the meal concluded we surprised the guests with the reveal of the party marquee – where we got the party started. A central cocktail bar, featuring everything from Mojitos to draft Guinness, set the stage for the dynamic RPJ Band, who energized the night with their electrifying performance. The dance floor was packed all night with all dancing into the small hours.
For those needing a brief escape from the high-energy celebration, we offered coffee and ice cream trikes for sweet treats, while a cosy fire pit provided a perfect spot for intimate conversations and marshmallow roasting.
As the night wound down, our team ensured a seamless exit with a fleet of golf buggies ready to transport guests back to their cars and taxis.
Challenges
As with all events there are always challenges that need overcoming. The event was spread across a large area so offroad buggies and trailers where needed for the build and buggies and drivers for the event. The rough and sloping ground under the dinning and party structures meant some intricate flooring solutions were required. The restricted access through the woodland entailed some ground work and delivery vehicles sizes had to be considered. Wet weather options especially for the build had to be ready to put in place if required over the course of the week long build and event. Special care had to be taken over the connection of the two different styles of structure on two different levels to create a smooth transition between them. Also with our client’s line of work and the high profile guests complete discretion had to be ensured over the course of the event to ensure a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere for everyone to enjoy themselves in. This required very strict control over photography, phones and staff conduct.
A Night to Remember
Often, gatherings of family and friends continue the festivities beyond the wedding day. In this spirit, our talented chefs returned the next day to host a delightful survivors’ evening BBQ, extending the joy and connection cultivated during this unforgettable wedding celebration.
